Six local government areas in Ondo South endorse Kekemeke for the APC Senate candidacy

While the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State readies for its National Assembly primaries, the six local governments of the Ondo South Senatorial District have formally endorsed the candidacy of the party’s National Vice Chairman (South West), Mr. Isaacs Kekemeke.

Kekemeke, who also serves as chairman of the Board of Nigeria Postal Service, previously announced his intention to contest the 2027 senatorial election.

The chairmen who attended the meeting were Ogunsakin Andrew (Okitipupa LG), Adegoroye Taiwo (Odigbo), Jedi Akinfe (Irele), Maurice Openaya (Ilaje), Ebis Molos (Ese-Odo) and Adebare Adebayo (Ile Iluji/Oke Igbo).

The declaration was made at a strategic meeting in Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area. The chairmen said their decision was based on Kekemeke’s proven track record, which they believe distinguishes him from other aspirants in the district.

According to the meeting, the chairmen noted that, to preserve party stability and cohesion, they fully support the APC’s consensus arrangement, which was mediated by Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa and state party leaders.

“Having taken this decision in the overall interest of the party, we have vowed not to give in to the few individuals who are yet to embrace the consensus arrangement,” one of them said.

Kekemeke responded that his candidacy stems from the trust and confidence placed in him by party members.

“I am better equipped to make governance more visible and truly responsive through concrete efforts to fully tap the socio‑economic potentials of Ondo South for the good of the people,” Kekemeke said.

He assured the chairmen that he would not disappoint the party or the people of Ondo State and would work to deliver responsive governance.
