Shettima visits NIPSS for on-the-spot Assessment after gunmen attack

By Golok Nanmwa

JOS — Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) on Friday to conduct an on‑the‑spot assessment of the institute’s operations, facilities and ongoing strategic programmes after the recent gunmen attack.

The Vice President, accompanied by Caleb Mutfwang and other senior government officials, was received by Director‑General of NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo, together with members of the institute’s management team.

The visit follows an armed assault on the institute that killed three people and raised concerns about security at the country’s leading policy and strategic studies centre.

Security agencies have arrested several suspects linked to the attack, and additional security measures have been implemented within and around the institution to prevent a recurrence.

Shettima’s visit is part of the Federal Government’s effort to assess the situation firsthand, reassure stakeholders, and support initiatives aimed at strengthening security at the institute.

Authorities continue to investigate the attack as they work to bring all those responsible to justice.
