Vice President Kashim Shettima urged the people of Plateau to unite, saying that political affiliation, religious belief, tribal identity or sectional background should not divide them.

He delivered the address during the wedding reception of Nanbam Mutfwang, the daughter of Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau.

Shettima noted that the wedding, which brings together people from the North and the South, demonstrates that what binds Nigerians together far outweighs forces that seek to split the nation.

“We need to build bridges; we need to embrace one another. Challenges bring forth the character of leaders,” he said.

The vice‑president observed that while Plateau faces difficulties, they are not insurmountable, especially with capable leadership.

He expressed delight at the presence of stakeholders, describing them as the movers and shakers of Plateau politics.

“We can transform Plateau into an economic powerhouse. Though the beautiful city faces challenges that threaten to make it a depressed economy. Stakeholders in Jos have the capacity to change the narrative and add value,” he said.

Shettima also urged the people to unite and live together as brothers.

Gov. Mutfwang welcomed the Vice President’s presence, thanked him for the goodwill of President Bola Tinubu, and expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its sustained progressive reforms that have improved security in the state and across the country.

“We must continue to forge ahead with hope,” Mutfwang said.
