Abdullahi Ganduje, immediate past Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, held a closed‑door meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima in Abuja on Tuesday.
Former Kano State Deputy Governor and immediate past Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, met privately with Vice President Kashim Shettima in Abuja on Monday evening.
The PUNCH reported that former Kano State Governor Dr Umar Ganduje and House of Representatives member for Bichi Federal Constituency, Abba Bichi, also attended the discussion.
The gathering focused on political developments in Kano North as the 2027 general elections approach.
The information was disclosed in a post on Gwarzo’s verified Facebook page shortly after the meeting.
Gwarzo is contesting the Kano North Senatorial District seat, currently held by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who is also expected to run again in 2027.
The meeting may not be directly linked to the internal contest for the senatorial ticket.
In his Facebook note, Gwarzo wrote, “Today, together with the former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and the member representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Abba Abubakar Kabir Bichi, we met with the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Kashim Shettima.”
He added that the discussions centered on politics in Kano North and broader party matters.
“We discussed politics and political affairs in Kano North, and he wished us success and prosperity in our political journey,” Gwarzo said.
The meeting took place days after Gwarzo was screened as an APC aspirant for the Kano North Senatorial District seat.
PUNCH notes that Kano North remains a pivotal political bloc in Kano State, with several prominent APC figures from the zone expected to play significant roles ahead of the 2027 elections.
Key political personalities from Kano North include Jibrin, Ganduje, newly inaugurated Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo, Abba Bichi, and T‑Gwarzo.
The gathering occurs amid ongoing political consultations and consensus‑building efforts within the APC in Kano State ahead of the next general elections.
Another aspirant for the Kano North senatorial seat, Dr Mahmoud Baba Bichi, previously withdrew from the race following reported intervention by Governor Abba Yusuf, aimed at preserving party unity.
