Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Cotonou to attend the inauguration of Benin President Romuald Wadagni, representing President Bola Tinubu.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, confirmed the trip in a statement released on Saturday.
According to Nkwocha, Shettima will join other African leaders and international dignitaries at the ceremony, which will be held at the Presidential Palace in Cotonou on Sunday, May 24.
Nkwocha highlighted the longstanding historical, socio‑cultural, and economic links between Benin and Nigeria, noting that the two countries often collaborate on border security, trade policies, and energy projects.
He added that the vice president will be accompanied by senior aides and top government officials and will return to Nigeria after completing his duties in Benin. (NAN)
