The Global Initiative Support Group for Sheriff inaugurated its local‑government area (LGA) coordinators in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area, aiming to boost grassroots mobilisation for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s re‑election bid.
The ceremony gathered group members from several LGAs across the state and marked the formal launch of the organisation’s structure.
Chief Josiah Ntekume, the group’s National Chairman, opened the event by stating that the initiative seeks to consolidate support for Governor Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged the newly appointed coordinators to rally support within their respective LGAs to secure a victory for the governor, noting that the support group will serve as a mobilisation platform for future elections.
Highlighting the governor’s achievements, Ntekume stressed the need for continued political engagement to attract additional projects and investment to the state.
