Seven individuals were brought before a Magistrate’s Court in Kano on charges related to the violent assault on the Farm Centre GSM Market.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed the arraignment, noting that the suspects were formally charged following a multi‑week investigation.

Police said that two more arrests had recently been made, raising the number of people connected to the attack to seven.

The latest arrests involved Sadiq Ayuba, 18, from Darmanawa Quarters, and Abdulganiyu Abba, 38, from Mariri Quarters.

In interrogation, Sadiq Ayuba admitted that he and other participants were recruited and paid by an as‑yet‑unidentified suspect named Mallam Hassan to execute the attack.

“We were mobilized and paid by Mallam Hassan to attack Farm Centre GSM Market and the entourage of AA Zaura,” he said.

Police reported that the assault caused extensive damage to market stalls and property, and damaged vehicles such as a Toyota ambulance used by AA Zaura’s entourage and a trader’s tricycle.

On Wednesday, the seven suspects appeared before Magistrate Court No. 2 in Nomansland, Kano, facing charges of criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, unlawful assembly, possession of dangerous weapons, and mischief.

CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, a police spokesperson, said investigations continue.

He added that authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the principal suspect, Mallam Hassan, who remains at large.

“The Command will not relent until all those behind the attack are identified and brought to justice,” he said.

He reiterated the commitment to a manhunt for the fleeing principal suspect, Mallam Hassan.
