Nigerian internationals Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke are poised to start a new phase at Sevilla after former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos secured a deal to become the club’s new owner, Afrik‑Foot reports.
Ramos, who began his professional career at Sevilla before establishing himself as one of Real Madrid’s most celebrated defenders, has allegedly completed a takeover valued at roughly €450 million through his investment vehicle Five Eleven Capital, together with a consortium of international investors. The agreement was signed on Tuesday, 12 May, after protracted negotiations with the current majority shareholders.
The transaction marks a dramatic homecoming to the club where Ramos first rose to prominence as a teenager, before moving to Madrid in 2005. More than twenty years later, he returns not as a player but as the public face of a project aimed at rescuing Sevilla from prolonged financial instability and sporting decline.

Spanish reports indicate the club’s debt is now close to €180 million, a key factor behind the ownership change.
The incoming investors believe Ramos’s profile will help rebuild Sevilla’s global reputation, attract new sponsors and restore confidence after years of internal disputes among shareholder groups. The takeover is also expected to bring significant structural changes behind the scenes, with several long‑standing officials likely to depart as Ramos ushers in a new era at the Ramón Sánchez‑Pizjuán Stadium.

The prospect of Ramos taking control could reshape the trajectories of Super Eagles forwards Adams and Ejuke at Sevilla.
Adams arrived from Montpellier HSC in January 2025 and quickly became a pivotal figure in the club’s battle for survival. The Nigerian striker scored a crucial goal in Sevilla’s 2‑1 victory over RCD Espanyol on 9 May, a result that helped allay relegation fears.
Despite his contributions, Sevilla may still consider selling the former Lillestrøm forward this summer as part of a broader squad overhaul. His market value is reported to have risen to around €30 million, and Premier League clubs are said to be monitoring his situation closely.
Given Sevilla’s financial constraints, profitable player sales could become necessary even for those who performed well during the season.

The winger joined Sevilla on a free transfer in June 2024 and displayed moments of quality with his dribbling, pace and creativity, but inconsistency and injuries disrupted parts of his campaign. Sevilla are likely open to offers as the new ownership prepares for what many Spanish outlets describe as a ‘seismic’ sporting reset.
Clubs from England, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Netherlands have all been linked with the Nigerian winger. Premier League teams reportedly view Ejuke’s direct style and one‑on‑one ability as well suited to English football.
Ramos’s arrival could also trigger major sporting decisions beyond the playing squad. There are already indications that Sevilla intend to overhaul their football structure, introducing fresh recruitment ideas and a younger, more aggressive transfer policy aimed at returning the club to European competition.
The takeover may also mark the final chapter of Ramos’s playing career. Spanish football regulations forbid active players from owning clubs competing in the same league, meaning the former Spain captain is expected to retire fully after his recent spell with CF Monterrey in Mexico.
Sevilla supporters hope that one of the club’s most celebrated academy graduates can now rebuild the institution from the boardroom. Nevertheless, the beginning of the Ramos era could also entail tough decisions about whether Adams and Ejuke remain part of Sevilla’s future.
