Senator Jibrin Isah, who represents Kogi East Senatorial District, has declared that “the battle line has been drawn” between himself and Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo after losing the APC primary for the Senate seat.
Isah, one of seven candidates vying for the party’s senatorial ticket, accused the primary of irregularities. He alleged that government agents had hijacked electoral materials intended for the exercise.
After the primary, where only two votes were cast in his own ward, Isah said he had gone to his ward to vote but found no electoral officer present. He claimed that similar situations occurred in many other wards across the district, preventing party members from voting.
According to Isah, the absence of officials and voting materials was a deliberate attempt to frustrate his supporters and influence the outcome of the primary.
He added that the projects he has completed in Kogi East would secure victory for APC candidates, including the President, in the senatorial district.
Isah stated that he has remained loyal to Governor Ododo and the party leadership, yet he questioned why he was treated in such a manner despite his commitment and contributions to the APC.
He alleged that the governor had turned against him because he was told that Isah would contest the gubernatorial election against him. “With the latest development, I will now contest for the governorship position against Governor Ododo when the time comes,” he said.
Isah called on the APC leadership to investigate the alleged hijacking of materials and to ensure fairness in the party’s electoral process.
