Senator Bob warns opposition: Gov. Eno must finish his eight‑year term in Akwa Ibom.

Senator Effiong Bob, the political leader of the Uyo Senatorial District in Akwa Ibom State, reminded critics and opponents of Governor Umo Eno that the governor’s term cannot be altered while it is in progress.

He emphasized that the governor’s tenure should run its full course.

Speaking to journalists in Uyo on Thursday, Bob urged anyone who wishes to run for the governorship or any other elective office to focus on issue‑based campaigns rather than personal attacks against Governor Eno.

He added that residents of the Uyo Senatorial District, from which the governor hails, will not allow the conventional eight‑year tenure to be shortened or the governor to be subjected to venomous attacks.

“You cannot shift the goalpost while the match is on. He has just completed the third year of his first term. The governor’s mandate should run its full course,” Bob said.

“Uyo Senatorial District would not stand by and see our governor, who is supposed to serve eight years, being ridiculed. If you want to contest an election, go and contest your election. Leave the governor alone,” he added.

Bob further stated, “We will resist every attempt to bring down the governance structure of Umo Eno as governor at this time.”

“Anyone who wants to contest an election should articulate what they plan to do, what they believe the governor has failed to achieve, and then, when they are in office, they will do better.”
