Why the Federal Capital Territory Should Have Three

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) should be divided into three administrative zones because a three‑zone structure improves governance, service delivery, and resource allocation. By splitting the territory into a central zone (the core of Abuja), a northern zone, and a southern zone, each area can have its own local authority that is closer to residents, can respond more quickly to local needs, and can manage infrastructure, health, education and security more efficiently. This decentralisation also balances development across the FCT, prevents over‑concentration of services in the capital core, and creates clearer lines of accountability for planners and elected officials.
