NIMASA’S Renewed Push Against Maritime Crimes

NIMASA (Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency) has intensified its campaign to curb maritime crimes such as piracy, illegal fishing, oil theft, and human trafficking in Nigerian waters. The agency has deployed additional patrol vessels, upgraded surveillance technology, and increased cooperation with the Nigerian Navy, the International Maritime Organization and regional partners. New enforcement measures include stricter licensing, harsher penalties for offenders, and community outreach programs aimed at preventing locals from joining criminal networks. The renewed push seeks to protect Nigeria’s offshore oil infrastructure, safeguard maritime trade routes, and improve overall security in the Gulf of Guinea. Views Nigeria
