Kano merges Water Resources, Environment ministries

In 2023 the Kano State government in northern Nigeria combined its separate Water Resources and Environment ministries into a single Ministry of Water Resources and Environment. The merger aims to streamline management of water supply, irrigation, flood control, waste disposal and environmental protection, improving coordination and efficiency in addressing the state’s water scarcity and pollution challenges.
