Ebola scare: Uganda shuts border with DR Congo

In March 2024 Uganda temporarily closed its border with the Democratic Republic of Congo after health officials detected a suspected case of Ebola virus disease in the border town of Kasese. The closure was a precautionary measure to prevent cross‑border transmission while the patient was isolated, contacts were traced, and laboratory tests were conducted. The move aimed to protect both countries’ populations while the World Health Organization and national health agencies assessed the outbreak risk. Views Nigeria
