iron dome
The Iron Dome is an Israeli mobile air‑defense system designed to intercept and destroy short‑range rockets, artillery shells, and mortars fired from distances of 4–70 km. Developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries, it became operational in 2011 and uses radar to detect incoming threats, a battle‑management computer to assess which projectiles will hit populated areas, and missile interceptors (Tamir) to shoot down those deemed dangerous. The system has proven highly effective, achieving interception rates of around 90 % in combat. Views Nigeria
