WHO declares Ebola public health emergency of international
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) on **17 July 2022**. The emergency was triggered by a surge of Ebola cases in Uganda’s districts of Mubende, Kassanda and Kyegegwa, which threatened to spread beyond the country’s borders.
