Nigerians, others deported by US arrive in Sierra
In August 2024 the United States began deporting a group of Nigerians and other migrants who had been detained for immigration violations. After processing at U.S. immigration facilities, the individuals were transferred to a U.S.‑run refugee camp in Sierra Leone, where they will receive temporary shelter, medical care and assistance while awaiting resettlement or repatriation. The operation was part of a broader effort to clear backlogged immigration cases and address humanitarian concerns for vulnerable migrants. Views Nigeria
