national youth service corps
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a one‑year mandatory program for Nigerian graduates under 30, created in 1973 to promote national unity and develop a sense of civic responsibility. Participants, called corps members, are posted to states other than their own to work in public or private institutions, receive basic training, engage in community development projects, and receive a post‑service certificate that is required for many government and professional jobs.
