Pope to release major artificial intelligence manifesto

Pope Francis announced that the Vatican will publish a major “Artificial Intelligence Manifesto,” a document that will outline the Church’s ethical guidelines for the development and use of AI. The manifesto is expected to stress respect for human dignity, the common good, transparency, accountability and the need for AI to serve, not replace, people—especially the poor and vulnerable—while urging policymakers, technologists and the faithful to collaborate on responsible, inclusive AI governance.
