Planning a coup in Nigeria is a waste

Attempting to organize a coup in Nigeria is extremely risky and largely futile. Nigeria’s military is tightly controlled, and past coups (e.g., 1966, 1975, 1983, 1993) have led to severe repression, international sanctions, and long‑term instability. The government’s security apparatus, intelligence services, and legal penalties make successful overthrow unlikely, while the consequences—imprisonment, death, or exile—are severe. Consequently, planning a coup is generally considered a waste of resources and a dangerous illegal act. Views Nigeria
