Itsekiri Group Rejects INEC’s New Ward and Polling
The Itsekiri Development Union (IDU), representing the Itsekiri ethnic group in Nigeria’s Delta State, publicly rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recent redrawing of ward boundaries and polling unit locations in the region. The group said the changes were imposed without proper consultation, could disenfranchise Itsekiri voters, and favored rival political interests. IDU leaders urged INEC to revert to the previous ward structure and to involve community stakeholders before any further adjustments. Views Nigeria
