Government Opens Polio Emergency Operations Centre in Katsina

The Nigerian federal government has inaugurated a Polio Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in Katsura, the capital of Katsina State, to coordinate intensified surveillance, vaccination campaigns and rapid response activities aimed at eradicating the remaining cases of wild‑type poliovirus in the country. The centre brings together health officials, security personnel and partners such as the World Health Organization and UNICEF to monitor outbreaks, manage resources and ensure swift immunisation of children in high‑risk areas.
