Eid El‑Kabir: Wike Sends Greetings to Residents and Children

Eid el‑Kabir (also called Eid al‑Adha) is the Islamic “Festival of Sacrifice,” observed each year on the 10th day of the lunar month Dhu l‑Hijja. In 2024 the holiday fell on 17 June. On that date, Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria, issued a public message congratulating the state’s Muslim residents—especially children—wishing them a blessed Eid, urging peace, unity and gratitude, and reminding them of the festival’s values of charity, sacrifice and compassion.
