national youth service corps

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a one‑year mandatory program for Nigerian graduates, established in 1973 to promote national unity, develop leadership skills, and involve youth in nation‑building. Participants, called corps members, are posted to states other than their own to work in public service, education, health, or community development, completing a three‑month orientation, primary assignment, and a concluding service‑year discharge. Successful completion earns a NYSC discharge certificate, required for government employment and many private sector jobs. Views Nigeria
