Stakeholders reject alleged candidate imposition in APC primaries

In the lead‑up to the 2023 All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, several party stakeholders—particularly state governors, party chairmen and influential members—publicly rejected the alleged imposition of certain candidates by the national leadership. They argued that the process violated internal democracy, sidelined grassroots preferences and could weaken the party’s electoral prospects. The backlash prompted calls for transparent, merit‑based primaries and, in some cases, led to legal challenges and the withdrawal of the contested candidates. Views Nigeria
