Nigeria intensifies fight against hypertension, cardiovascular diseases with

Nigeria is scaling up its national response to hypertension and cardiovascular disease (CVD) through a multi‑sectoral strategy that includes: expanding community‑based screening and treatment programs; integrating blood‑pressure checks into primary‑care and maternal‑health services; training health‑worker cadres and deploying digital health tools for monitoring; subsidizing antihypertensive medicines; launching public‑health campaigns on diet, salt reduction, physical activity and tobacco control; and strengthening data collection and research to guide policy. The effort is coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Health with support from the World Health Organization, local NGOs and international partners. Views Nigeria
