NNPC accuses Dangote Refinery of seeking fuel monopoly

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has accused the Dangote Refinery of trying to dominate the domestic fuel market. NNPC says Dangote’s plans to import crude, refine it locally and sell gasoline, diesel and jet fuel could give the private refinery an unfair advantage, potentially crowding out NNPC’s own fuel distribution and creating a monopoly in the supply chain. The dispute centers on concerns over market share, pricing power and the impact on Nigeria’s broader oil‑and‑gas sector. Views Nigeria
