KACRAN Calls to Protect Cattle Routes and Revive

KACRAN (Karnataka Cattle Route Advocacy Network) is a grassroots coalition of farmers, animal‑rights groups, and local officials in Karnataka, India. In 2024 the network launched a “Calls to Protect Cattle Routes and Revive” campaign urging the state government to safeguard traditional cattle‑driving pathways, restore neglected rural roads, and provide infrastructure (such as shade, water points and veterinary stations) so that cattle can be moved safely for grazing, market and religious festivals. The initiative seeks legal protection for these routes, funding for road repairs, and community awareness to prevent encroachment and improve animal welfare. Views Nigeria
