Itsekiri Group Rejects INEC’s New Ward and Polling

The Itsekiri Development Union (IDU), representing the Itsekiri ethnic group in Nigeria’s Delta State, publicly rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recent redrawing of ward boundaries and polling‑unit locations in the region. The group says the changes were made without proper consultation, could disenfranchise Itsekiri voters, and appear to favor rival political interests. IDU leaders have called on INEC to revert to the previous ward structure and to involve community stakeholders before any further adjustments. Views Nigeria
