Bauchi WASH stakeholders propose a tax on companies

The Bauchi State Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) stakeholders—comprising the state Ministry of Water Resources, local government authorities, NGOs, community groups and private sector partners—have proposed imposing a levy on companies operating in the state. The tax would be collected from businesses (especially large manufacturers, mining firms and commercial enterprises) and earmarked specifically for funding WASH infrastructure, such as boreholes, latrines, water treatment plants and hygiene promotion programs, to improve access to safe water and sanitation for residents.
