national youth service corps

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a one‑year mandatory programme for Nigerian graduates, established in 1973 to promote national unity, develop leadership skills, and involve youth in nation‑building. Participants, called corps members, are posted to states other than their own to work in public service, education, health, or community development, completing a primary assignment, a community development service (CDS) project, and a final orientation camp before receiving a discharge certificate.
