Stakeholders reject alleged candidate imposition in APC primaries

In the lead‑up to the 2023 All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, several party stakeholders—including state governors, party chairmen and prominent members—publicly rejected what they described as the imposition of candidates by the national leadership. They accused the party’s national chair, Adams Oshiomhole, and the presidential campaign council of hand‑picking aspirants without proper consultation, warning that such “imposed” candidates could damage internal democracy and hurt the party’s performance in upcoming elections. The backlash led to protests, legal challenges and calls for a more transparent primary process. Views Nigeria
