Kano Assembly urges immediate action to combat tomato
The Kano State House of Assembly in Nigeria issued a resolution calling on the state government and relevant agencies to take immediate measures against the severe decline in tomato production. The lawmakers highlighted factors such as pest infestations, lack of quality seeds, high input costs, and inadequate irrigation, which have led to reduced yields and soaring prices. They urged the implementation of subsidized inputs, distribution of certified seeds, pest‑control programs, and support for farmers’ access to credit and modern farming techniques to revive the tomato sector and stabilize market prices.
