Why the Federal Capital Territory Should Have Three

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria was created as a single, centrally‑administered area, but many planners argue it should be divided into three separate zones—administrative, residential and commercial—so that government services, housing and business development can be managed more efficiently. Splitting the territory would allow each zone to have its own local authority, improve resource allocation, reduce congestion in the city centre, and promote balanced growth across the whole region.
