US Imposes New Sanctions on Iran
In April 2024 the United States announced a new round of sanctions targeting Iran’s nuclear and ballistic‑missile programs, as well as its support for militant groups. The measures freeze assets of dozens of Iranian individuals and entities, prohibit U.S. persons from doing business with them, and restrict Iran’s access to the U.S. financial system. The sanctions also target companies supplying dual‑use technology for missile production and impose secondary sanctions on foreign firms that facilitate prohibited transactions. The move aims to pressure Tehran back to the nuclear negotiations and curb its regional destabilizing activities. Views Nigeria
