Stakeholders reject alleged candidate imposition in APC primaries

In the lead‑up to the 2023 All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, several party stakeholders—including governors, party chairmen and prominent members—publicly rejected what they described as the imposition of certain candidates by the national leadership. They argued that the alleged “imposition” undermined internal democracy, violated the party’s constitution and could damage the APC’s electoral prospects, calling for transparent, merit‑based primaries instead. The controversy sparked protests, legal challenges and calls for the party’s national executive to step down. Views Nigeria
