NNPC accuses Dangote Refinery of seeking fuel monopoly

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has accused the Dangote Refinery of trying to dominate the domestic fuel market. NNPC says Dangote’s plans to import crude, process it at its 650,000‑bpd refinery in Lagos, and sell the resulting gasoline, diesel and jet fuel could crowd out NNPC’s own fuel distribution, creating a monopoly that would limit competition and hurt the state‑owned company's market share. The dispute centers on concerns over pricing, supply contracts and the regulatory framework governing Nigeria’s fuel sector. Views Nigeria
