Bauchi WASH stakeholders propose a tax on companies

The Bauchi State Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) stakeholders—comprising the state Ministry of Water Resources, local government authorities, NGOs, community groups and private sector partners—have proposed introducing a levy on companies operating in the state. The tax would be earmarked for financing WASH infrastructure, such as boreholes, latrines and hygiene education programs, aiming to improve access to safe water and sanitation for residents, especially in rural and underserved urban areas.
