LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND FINANCIAL AUTONOMY
Local government and financial autonomy refers to the authority and capacity of municipal, county, or regional governments to manage their own fiscal affairs without excessive dependence on higher‑level (state or national) budgets. It includes the power to levy taxes, collect fees, borrow, allocate expenditures, and set financial priorities in line with local needs, while being accountable to residents through elected officials and legal frameworks. This autonomy aims to improve efficiency, responsiveness, and democratic control over public services at the local level. Views Nigeria
