Scotland manager Steve Clarke says his side will not adopt a defensive posture in the decisive Group C match against Brazil, and will instead pursue a positive strategy against the five‑time world champions.

After a narrow 1‑0 loss to Morocco in Massachusetts, Clarke wants the squad to regain confidence for their final group game of the 2026 World Cup.

Scotland has three points from a 1‑0 victory over Haiti and will face a strong Brazil side in Miami.

Clarke urges Scotland to attack Brazil instead of defending for the full 90 minutes, drawing lessons from the early setbacks against Morocco.

“We have no alternative; we want to win, and if we cannot, we do not want to lose,” Clarke said.

“Our focus over the next five days is to prepare for the heat and humidity in Miami and to face another top‑ten team,” he added.

“Everyone in the press area, where I conducted interviews, was discussing the Scott McTominay incident, but that was the only one I had not reviewed,” he said.

“I considered the John McGinn incident a 50/50 call. Some would award it, and if the referee does, VAR would not overturn it. I was also uncertain about the Che Adams last‑man incident,” Clarke explained.

“He had a one‑on‑one opportunity with the goalkeeper but was brought down. The referee issued a yellow card, and VAR upheld the decision. There is nothing we can change,” he said.

“Next week, the Brazil match is a different contest and likely requires a different approach, so we will see which players we select,” Clarke said.
