Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu has appealed to Nigerians to stay united and resolute amid the country’s growing insecurity, expressing confidence that the nation can overcome its current security challenges.
Responding to recent incidents of violence and abductions across the country, the governor said that Nigeria’s resilience, courage and unity are its greatest strengths.
He urged citizens to back the Federal Government and security agencies, stressing that defeating insecurity requires collective responsibility that transcends political, ethnic or religious lines.
Sanwo‑Olu noted that while recent attacks have understandably raised public concern, such moments should reinforce national solidarity rather than deepen divisions.
He described every life lost to violence as a tragedy and added that communities affected by insecurity deserve support, protection and solidarity from all Nigerians.
The governor also called for prayers and assistance for victims of recent abductions, including teachers and students reportedly taken from Oyo State.
He reminded that Nigeria has faced economic hardship, political instability and security threats in the past, yet has consistently overcome them through unity and determination.
Expressing optimism, he urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to national progress, believing the country will also surmount its current security difficulties.
Sanwo‑Olu emphasized that the government alone cannot solve insecurity, calling on communities to stay vigilant and share useful intelligence with security agencies.
He reiterated confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and in the efforts of security agencies to restore peace and stability nationwide.
The governor encouraged young people and families to remain resilient, while urging security personnel to stay dedicated to their duties.
He maintained that Nigeria’s unity and collective strength will ultimately prevail over those responsible for violence and instability, expressing optimism about a safer and more stable future for the country.
