Blackburn Rovers have reached a decision on the future of Nigeria international Ryan Alebiosu, barely a year after the Arsenal academy graduate joined the club, Afrik-Foot reports.

The Riversiders are reportedly prepared to consider offers for the Nigerian defender after his strong debut season at Ewood Park.

Interest is expected to intensify during the summer transfer window, as Alebiosu emerged as one of Blackburn’s most dependable performers in the 2025‑26 campaign.

English reports indicate that the club is now open to serious bids, having turned down approaches in the January window.

Alebiosu became an essential figure for Blackburn during a challenging period when the club fought to avoid relegation in the Championship. He featured regularly at right‑back and delivered several key performances in the final months of the season.

The 24‑year‑old combined solid defensive work with attacking thrust down the flank, finishing the league season with one goal and five assists in 39 Championship appearances.

A highlight of his season arrived in October 2025, when he netted his first goal for Blackburn against Southampton. His pace, crossing ability and energy quickly secured his place in the starting eleven.

Reports suggest that Everton and Italian side Genoa are among the clubs closely monitoring his situation ahead of the next season. Blackburn view the defender as a valuable asset, noting that his market value rose markedly over the campaign.

Nevertheless, the Lancashire club does not face immediate pressure to sell.

Alebiosu still has two years left on the three‑year contract he signed after arriving from Belgian side KV Kortrijk in July 2025. Because of this contract length, Blackburn would likely demand a substantial fee for any transfer.

Ryan Alebiosu: From Arsenal prospect to Super Eagles star

Alebiosu’s path to becoming a regular in the Championship has taken him through England, Scotland and Belgium.

Born in London, he joined Arsenal at eight years old and spent ten years in the club’s Hale End academy, progressing through the youth ranks alongside players such as Bukayo Saka. Arsenal offered him his first professional contract in August 2020, but senior opportunities at the Premier League side remained limited.

His first taste of professional football came in January 2022, when he moved to Crewe Alexandra on loan. Alebiosu made his senior debut on 1 February, gaining valuable experience in the lower tiers of English football.

The defender then spent the 2022‑23 season in Scotland with Kilmarnock, making 29 appearances and demonstrating versatility as both a right‑back and wing‑back. His performances convinced KV Kortrijk to sign him permanently after he left Arsenal in September 2023.

Following a spell in Belgium and a brief loan at St Mirren, Alebiosu returned to England with Blackburn and quickly established himself in the Championship.

Internationally, he made a decisive choice to represent Nigeria despite his English birth. After obtaining a Nigerian passport in late 2025, he debuted for the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, contributing to a 3‑1 win over Uganda.

Now, after a breakthrough year in the Championship, Alebiosu approaches the summer transfer window as one of Blackburn’s most valuable players, attracting interest from clubs in both England and Italy.
