Hostilities between Russia and Ukraine restarted on Tuesday after a three‑day ceasefire expired, as Ukrainian officials reported drone strikes on Kyiv and reported casualties in the Dnipropetrovsk region of eastern Ukraine.

Ukrainian officials said Russian drones hit Kyiv soon after the ceasefire lapsed, triggering citywide air‑raid alerts.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, cautioned residents about enemy unmanned aerial vehicles flying over the city.

He posted on Telegram: “Enemy UAVs are currently over Kyiv. Please stay safe until the alert is cleared.”

The warning was the first confirmed air‑raid alert in Kyiv since Friday, when the temporary ceasefire began.

The regional military administration also urged residents to stay in shelters, noting that air‑defence systems might be activated in response to the strikes.

In other parts of eastern Ukraine, officials reported that Russian attacks killed one person and wounded at least four others in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Oleksandr Ganzha, head of the regional military administration, said a man was killed and a woman injured in the Synelnykove district.

He added that three additional people were wounded in separate incidents elsewhere in the region.

The Russian military asserted that it intercepted and destroyed 27 Ukrainian drones after the ceasefire officially ended.

The temporary truce was announced on Friday by Donald Trump, coinciding with the approach of Russia’s World War II victory commemorations.

Trump said he hoped the ceasefire would mark “the beginning of the end” of a conflict that has now lasted four years.

Nevertheless, before the truce expired, both Moscow and Kyiv accused each other of breaching the agreement by targeting civilians and infrastructure.
