Rooney: Man United unlikely to win title under Carrick next season

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney cautioned fans against expecting a Premier League title challenge from the club next season.

The Red Devils have confirmed that Michael Carrick will remain in charge, having signed a long‑term contract.

Under Carrick, United won 12 of their 17 matches, finished third, and earned a place in the Champions League.

Rooney, however, doubts that his former club will be title contenders in the coming campaign.

He said: “We all want them to win the league, but you have to be realistic and say, are they going to win the league? Are they going to win the Champions League?”

“I think it’s going to be very difficult, but trying to get an improvement.”
