Representing the Darazo‑Ganjuwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mansur Manu Soro has announced that he will not run in the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made in a statement dated 11 May 2026 and signed by his Legislative Aide, Safiyanu Ibrahim Darazo.

According to the statement, Soro will neither contest the Bauchi Central senatorial seat nor seek re‑election for his current constituency.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Darazo‑Ganjuwa, the Peoples Democratic Party, and Bala Mohammed for the support and confidence shown during the 2023 elections, which enabled his return to the National Assembly.

Although he is stepping away from electoral politics, Soro assured constituents that he will continue to work for the development of the area, especially in education and healthcare.

He cited several projects he has overseen, including the construction of primary and secondary schools, a National Open University of Nigeria study centre, and four pediatric hospitals across the constituency.

It should be noted that Soro resigned from the PDP on 1 May 2026, citing ongoing internal crises and unresolved divisions within the party over the past two years.

After leaving the PDP, he joined the Allied Peoples Movement, which sparked speculation that he might run for either the Bauchi Central senatorial seat or a return to the House of Representatives under that party’s banner.

Attempts to obtain a response from APM State Chairman Auwal Isah were unsuccessful; calls to him were not answered and text messages sent to his phone had not been replied to at the time of reporting.
