Emmanuel Josiah, a Labour Party candidate for the House of Representatives in Abia State’s Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal constituency, urged Nigerian politicians to put the welfare of the people first rather than their own interests.
Speaking at Eziama Nteghauzor on Friday, Josiah reminded lawmakers who once lived in poverty that they must not forget their humble beginnings after taking office.
He also highlighted the importance of addressing healthcare challenges that affect older residents in rural villages and called on lawmakers to tackle youth and female unemployment.
Josiah urged that development projects be distributed across multiple villages rather than concentrated in a single area, to promote peace and equity.
If elected, he pledged to keep communication channels open with his constituents.
Abia State Labour Party chairman Peter Azubuike praised Josiah’s decision and predicted that the party would win all elective seats by 2027.
