Recent Plateau attacks kill community leader and injure woman

JOS — Two individuals have died in separate violent incidents that occurred in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

The victims were identified as 58‑year‑old community leader Mr. Daniel Pulle and Mrs. Deborah Benjamin Kak, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a prior attack.

Both incidents were announced in a statement released on Sunday by Mr. Rwang Tengwong, National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders (BYM).

According to the statement, Mr. Pulle, the community leader of Gana‑Ropp in Ropp District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, was attacked at approximately 7:55 p.m. on Sunday while riding his motorcycle home.

The group reported that he was shot near a bridge that leads into the community.

In a separate incident, Mrs. Kak suffered gunshot wounds during an attack on her home in Lwa village, Bachi District of Riyom Local Government Area on June 26. She died on Sunday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where she had been receiving treatment.

The Berom Youth Moulders expressed concern over the ongoing violence and loss of life in affected communities, urging the implementation of stronger security measures to protect residents and prevent further attacks.

Attempts to obtain a response from the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
