Rebuttal to false, misleading, and defamatory publications about Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji

We have received a report from Peoples Gazette that attempts to link Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji to alleged financial misconduct and ongoing legal actions involving third parties and corporate entities. The report contains misleading inferences, distortions of facts, and an apparent effort to damage the reputation of a public figure who has not been convicted by any competent Nigerian court.

To clarify, Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/03/V/2025 before the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, overseen by Hon. Justice Emeka Nwite, is an ex‑parte interim forfeiture and freezing proceeding concerning Effdee Nigeria Limited and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). It does not represent a criminal conviction or finding against Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji.

The Certified True Copy of the Court Order shows that the order concerns an interim freezing and forfeiture related to Effdee Ltd.’s account at Keystone Bank. The order does not list Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji as a director, shareholder, or account holder of the company.

Additionally, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Status Report for Effdee Nigeria Limited lists the company’s directors as Danny Sakis Aouad and Fouad Anthony Aouad. Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji is not recorded as a director, shareholder, promoter, or officer of the company in any capacity.

Presenting these unverified allegations, interim proceedings, or unproven claims as established facts against Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji is irresponsible, prejudicial, and malicious.

We reiterate unequivocally that:

1. Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has never been convicted by any Court of Law in Nigeria.
2. No competent court has found him guilty of fraud, corruption, or any criminal offence.
3. Using unproven allegations for political purposes undermines due process and the rule of law.

Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji remains entitled to the constitutional presumption of innocence guaranteed under Nigerian law until proven otherwise by a competent court.

We therefore call on the public, political stakeholders, and media organisations to exercise restraint, professionalism, and adherence to verified facts, rather than amplify speculative and defamatory narratives that could mislead the public and prejudice ongoing judicial processes.
