Pst Adeboye neutral, never campaigned for govt in power — RCCG

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has denied allegations that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, campaigned for the current government, asserting that he has always maintained a neutral position on partisan politics.

In a statement released on Tuesday, RCCG Public Relations said the cleric has consistently urged church members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and exercise their civic rights by voting for candidates of their choice, rather than endorsing any political party.

The church also refuted claims that Adeboye cancelled a planned protest, explaining that he simply relayed the directive of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) regarding adjustments to a three‑day prayer programme and rally.

“Pastor E.A. Adeboye only communicated the instruction of the Pentecostal Fellowship in Nigeria to members of the RCCG on the updated plan to have the grand finale of the Three Day Prayer Program in a centralized venue and hold a rally around the venue. This was communicated by PFN to all churches under PFN in Nigeria,” the statement read.

RCCG further rejected allegations that the cleric deliberately remains silent on national issues, noting that Adeboye has spoken on several occasions about insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance and the need for righteous leadership, often through moral guidance, prayer and counsel rather than partisan confrontation.

“Let it be clearly stated: Pastor Adeboye and The RCCG will not be defined by falsehood, and neither will the Church remain silent while inaccurate narratives are repeatedly circulated as facts,” the statement added.

The church urged the public, bloggers, commentators and media organisations to verify information concerning Pastor Adeboye and RCCG through its official communication channels before publication.

“If a claim is not communicated, verified, or endorsed through RCCG’s official communication channels, it should not be regarded as an official position of the Church,” it said.
