The Maiduguri club produced a disciplined defensive display to preserve their slender advantage for the remainder of the match, frustrating Ikorodu City’s attempts to force an equaliser.
The victory also secured El-Kanemi Warriors a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, where they will represent Nigeria alongside Shooting Stars.
For Ikorodu City, it was a heartbreaking conclusion to an otherwise impressive campaign.
The Lagos-based club had narrowly missed out on a continental berth on the final day of the Nigeria Premier Football League season and were hoping to secure qualification by lifting the Federation Cup.
